Leslie Prouty has participated in every sale of Contemporary Art in New York since 1982. In addition to negotiating sales, she supervises all research for the Evening sale catalogues and is a Senior Editor and writer of the scholarly essays.
Ms Prouty coordinated and contributed to the special catalogues for the sales of David Smith at Voltri VII 1962 and Mark Rothko’s White Center (Yellow, Pink and Lavender on Rose), 1950, which set a record for a work of Contemporary Art when it sold in May 2007 for $73 million.
She has developed considerable expertise in postwar Abstract Art, Pop Art and Minimalist Art and has been responsible for selling works from the collections of The Dia Foundation, Ethel Redner Scull, Samuel and Luella Maslon, Karl Ströher, Lannan Foundation and the Estate of Vera G List.
Ms Prouty has also marketed some of the great masterworks of the postwar era, including David Smith’s Cubi XXVIII and Willem de Kooning’s Interchange and Untitled XVI, 1975.
She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Renaissance Studies from Mt Holyoke College.
