Biography

Jodi Pollack joined Sotheby’s in 2000 and oversees the 20th Century Design markets in the United States, with a particular specialization in American prewar and postwar design.  Under her leadership Sotheby’s has emerged as the dominant market leader for Design, achieving over $100 million in our New York Design sales over the last three years, and higher sales totals than any other auction house each and every year.

During her time at Sotheby's, Ms. Pollack has sold some of the most important works of Design to appear at auction and has overseen numerous landmark single-owner sales, including most recently WYETH: The Art of Timeless Design (2016), The Warshawsky Collection (2015), The Jon Stryker Collection:  Masterworks of European Modernism (2014), and Tiffany:  Dreaming in Glass (2014).   She has been instrumental in establishing Sotheby’s leading market position in the markets of American prewar design, establishing new world records and pricing platforms for such designers as Louis Comfort Tiffany, Frank Lloyd Wright, Greene & Greene, George Nakashima, Paul Evans, and Harry Bertoia.

Prior to joining Sotheby’s, Ms. Pollack was a research associate in the American Decorative Arts department at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Decorative Arts at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Industrial Design at the University of Michigan.
