Dunham Townend serves as a Vice President of Sotheby’s, and acts as the Director of the company’s Philadelphia and Mid-Atlantic offices. In her role, she advises clients on all aspects of collection management, including acquisitions, deaccessions, valuation and appraisal services. She also serves as liaison to our team of Sotheby’s specialists around the globe, and to cultural institutions locally.
Prior to joining Sotheby’s, Dunham served as the Head of the Modern & Contemporary Art Department at Freeman’s in Philadelphia. During her tenure as Head of Department, she stewarded numerous important collections to auction and worked hand-in-hand with buyers and sellers alike, achieving strong results in a competitive marketplace. Before her time at Freeman’s, she spent nine years at New York’s Hirschl & Adler Galleries, where she specialized in American Art from the Modern, Post-War and Contemporary periods.
A native of Philadelphia’s Main Line, Dunham is heavily involved with the cultural community of Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley. She serves as a member of the Corporate Leadership Board at The Barnes Foundation, and is on the Chairman’s Council at The Philadelphia Museum of Art.
