Biography
Deborah Engel currently serves as an Account Manager in Collection Sale Management in New York. She has become a trusted resource for her clients, handling high-value consignments spanning diverse categories.
She joined Sotheby’s in 2020, bringing with her over two decades of experience in art, design, auction, and project management. Prior to joining the Collection Sale Management team in 2022, Deborah worked with the Silver & Judaica teams to catalogue works for sale, and in the Valuations department as an Account Manager. Her extensive background prior to Sotheby’s includes managing large-scale benefit auctions, overseeing a Manhattan design gallery, and serving as a generalist auction specialist, all based in New York City.
Deborah's passion for her work is deeply rooted in her academic achievements. She earned her Bachelor's degree summa cum laude in Art History from George Washington University, followed by a Master's in History of Design and Curatorial Studies from the Parsons School of Design |Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. Specializing in American 20th-century design and popular culture, she graduated with distinction, underscoring her enthusiasm for art, objects, and the stories they tell.
