Cameron researches, catalogues and generally enthuses over both English and Continental furniture, usually dating from the late 17th to the early 19th century. Since joining the department in 2021, he has worked on a variety of significant global auctions including the ‘Albany’, Joseph Hotung and Freddie Mercury collections in London, the Hôtel Lambert auction in Paris, and the ‘Provenance and Patina’ collection in New York. His areas of particular interest include the history of collecting, the curation of period interiors today and the ever-changing relationship between utility and ornament across the decorative arts. He holds a degree in English Literature and Modern Languages from the University of Oxford, and speaks German and French.
