The Gallery Collective at Sotheby’s Dubai
November 2024–2026
Sotheby’s Dubai is proud to present The Gallery Collective, an innovative partnership with some of the UAE’s most renowned homegrown galleries. This unique series, running from November 2024 through 2026, celebrates the thriving local art scene by showcasing the diverse talent emerging from the region. Each exhibition will feature a carefully curated selection of artworks from the UAE’s leading galleries.
Hot Spots
Hot Spots is the first collaborative exhibition between Tabari Artspace and The Third Line. Showcasing a collective of artists from across the Middle East and North Africa, working across disciplines, the exhibition seeks to foreground new connections and dialogues between the galleries' represented artists.
The title draws inspiration from the language and codes of advertising, particularly the vocabulary used in travel marketing. By adopting this commercial vernacular, the exhibition brings forward deeper themes of human movement, cultural attachment, and globalisation.
Exhibition Dates
9 January 2025 – 10 March 2025
Form and Rhythm
At the intersection of contemporary and Islamic art, Form and Rhythm brings together an intergenerational group of artists using geometric abstraction and the application of traditional crafts in their artistic practice. Long a cornerstone of Lawrie Shabibi’s programme, contributing artists include Hamra Abbas, Dima Srouji, Farhad Ahrarnia, Timo Nasseri, Mohamed Melehi, Nabil Nahas and Shahpour Pouyan. The exhibition comprises ceramics, works of cut stone and glass, Mughal-inspired hard stone inlay and Persian micro-mosaic as well as paintings and silkscreens.
Exhibition Dates
12 March 2025 – 7 May 2025
Islamic Arts Biennale 2025
Sotheby’s is pleased to partner with the 2025 Islamic Arts Biennale, which takes place in Jeddah from 25 January – 25 May 2025. The Diriyah Biennale Foundation’s Islamic Arts Biennale provides a holistic platform for new discourse about Islamic arts, offering an unparalleled space for learning, research, and insight. The exhibition takes place every two years at the Aga Khan Award–winning Western Hajj Terminal at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, a city that for centuries has represented a junction point for cultural exchange and a venue that acts as a port of entry for millions of pilgrims on their journey to Makkah and Madinah. The first edition of the Biennale welcomed more than 600,000 visitors, and the second edition builds on this success in an expanded form.
In partnership with the Islamic Arts Biennale, Sotheby’s is pleased to present a series of education courses, led by Sotheby’s specialists exploring themes around the world of Islamic Arts. Full programme will be forthcoming.
