André Zlattinger re-joined Sotheby’s in 2023 as Deputy Chairman UK and Head of Modern British Art after twelve years at Christie’s. He left Christie’s as Deputy Chairman, Post War & Contemporary Art, after a period of leading the Modern British Department, which experienced enormous growth under his leadership. He also was Head of Private sales for Impressionist and Modern Art Europe.
One of his specialities is British Post War art, which includes artists such as Hockney, Bacon, Freud, Hodgkin, Riley and Doig. André has been instrumental in developing the market for Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson, L.S. Lowry and the Scottish Colourist’s over the years. He has been involved with a number of landmark sales amongst them the collection of Lord and Lady Attenborough, The Lord Forte Collection of works by L.S.Lowry and was instrumental in the sale of Stanley Spencer’s Christ preaching at Cookham regatta: conversation between punts and Henry Moore’s most celebrated masterpiece Reclining figure: Festival from 1951 that still stands as a record for the artist. He has curated a number of exhibitions amongst them The leaping Light: 20th century British art and Henry Moore: The Shape of things. André started his career in the auction world here at Sotheby’s. Having worked in the market for over 28 years, André brings with him a wealth of experience and has been instrumental in the development of the market for Modern British Art.
