The Cycad Collection is the culmination of a distinguished connoisseur’s love of nature, passion for beauty and eye for collecting. From the outset of his acquisitions, this collector drew inspiration from the opulent gardens that surrounded his home. This environment for collecting echoes the lifestyle and approach of Louis Comfort Tiffany at his Long Island home Laurelton Hall. Conceived as a country estate, Tiffany made sure that the interiors were filled with extraordinary works of art amassed from his journeys, while the gardens were filled with a diversity of flora and fauna that equally sparked his imagination and creativity. Samples from his garden could even be studied by his craftsman firsthand in order to mimic their appearance in the decorative schemes, colors and shade patterns for which Tiffany became so well known. The Cycad Collection is a testament to this collector’s distinguishing eye and a passion for all types of art both informed by and infused with nature.
