Sale Highlights

Old World Treasures and New World Gems

The sale starts with a truly wonderful array of old world treasures including a DRC assortment from the 1999 vintage, Bordeaux First Growths and Burgundy Grand Cru, top Champagne and Rhône, blockbuster offerings from Italy and Spain, counterbalanced by New World gems, such as Henschke, Stag's Leap and Ridge, in superlative condition and attractive full case quantities.

Spotlight on America

An uncommon selection from Lail Vineyards, Ridge, Stag's Leap, Lakoya, Silver Oak - the list goes on. Usually, here in London, we only get a few bottles, so it is a great pleasure to present these wines - not just the benchmark lots from Napa, but also stars from Alexander Valley, Santa Cruz and the Central Coast - in full cases quantities and even in parcels.

Ornellaia Vendemmia d'Artista

In celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Vendemmia d’Artista project, Ornellaia invited South African artist William Kentridge to create special edition labels for a limited number of large-size bottles of Ornellaia. The drawings on the labels are executed on the pages of old Italian cash books found in flea markets and second-hand shops in the Tuscan area. The fruit of a particularly well-balanced harvest season, 2015 is without doubt one of the great Ornellaia vintages. This double magnum is no 2 of only 100 made.

The Domaine

The Domaine, as it is known, is iconic. Much more important, it also produces the most extraordinary wines in Burgundy - and it has been doing so for a long time. The generations responsible for the Domaine change, but the terroir remains. And these are very special vineyard parcels indeed, married to meticulous care and philosophy leading to low yields and healthy, ripe grapes, at whatever cost. From the 1990s, vineyard policy has been organic, with co-owner Aubert de Villaine monitoring everything with his usual attention to detail. Domaine de la Romanée-Conti wines evolve and develop dimensions in a way that resembles a mosaic – points of bouquet and flavour making up a harmonious whole that becomes more beautiful as it unfolds in the glass. Yes, these are hedonistic wines and yes, they are not like any other. The trick is in capturing what these remarkable plots of vines can give and letting them express themselves through minimum intervention and enlightened nurturing.
