Sotheby’s Autumn Modern Discoveries sale is led by a group of works from the Alexander Iolas Collection, including a late drawing by Picasso, and a recently rediscovered early painting by Piet Mondrian. These works are accompanied by a selection of paintings, works on paper and sculptures, ceramics and prints by some of the most pioneering names in the 19th- and 20th-century European avant-garde. Impressionist and Modern paintings by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Max Ernst and Raoul Dufy, sit alongside works on paper by Edgar Degas, Marc Chagall and Leonor Fini. Open for bidding from 8 October, bidding will begin to close in London at 14:00 on 15 October. Highlights will be on view from 12 October until midday on 15 October.
