S otheby’s is honored to partner with four-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, actress and executive producer Kelly Rowland, who lends her curatorial eye to the latest edition of Sotheby’s March Contemporary Curated auction as this season’s curator. Rowland is a global pop superstar who has made a name for herself not only in the music industry but also in television, film and fashion. Selecting an edit of six artworks from the auction that personally resonated with her and speak to her own tastes in art, Rowland’s is a thoughtful selection that teeters between figurative and abstract styles while championing several African American contemporary artists. The Contemporary Curated exhibition will be on view on the 3rd floor of Sotheby’s between 3-8 March. The Contemporary Curated auction is a live sale on 9 March beginning at 10am EST (Lots 1-144) and 2pm EST (Lots 201-298) that will accept advance, absentee, phone and online bidding.
The March sale features a selection of trailblazing artists who define the postwar period including Alma Thomas, Wayne Thiebaud, Faith Ringgold, Alice Neel and Andy Warhol, as well as innovative players on the forefront of contemporary art, including Michael Majerus, Cecily Brown, Salman Toor and Elizabeth Peyton.
