Sotheby's is thrilled to be partnering with powerhouse sports agent, entrepreneur and&nbsp;New York Times&nbsp;best-selling author Rich Paul as guest curator. Rich has an impressive collection of over 100 works of contemporary art, with a special focus on Black artists. His collection includes works by some of the most renowned artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, from Ernie Barnes, Reggie Burrows Hodges and Sam Gilliam, to Derek Fordjour, Mark Bradford, Henry Taylor and Derrick Adams. Rich fosters and develops personal relationships with the artists he collects and has a strong history of supporting early careers. He is also celebrated for encouraging the athletes he represents to consider art collecting both as an investment and a passion. Rich was nominated to the board of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) in 2022 and has been instrumental in highlighting Black representation across the collection as part of the museum's acquisition committee. Rich has selected a number of highlights from the Contemporary Curated auction this season, including works by Fordjour, Frank Bowling, Sam Gilliam and Mark Bradford.

Inside and Outside: Ruth Asawa's Masterwork

This September, Sotheby’s is proud to present important works from the Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn Harbor in the Contemporary Curated Auction. Extending the legacy of the museum, the proceeds from this sale will go towards the care of the museum’s collection, ensuring it can continue to provide access to the arts in both the New York and Long Island region. The collection features works by major post-war artists—Helen Frankenthaler, Robert Rauschenberg, Larry Poons, Friedel Dzubas and Robert Goodnough—as well as the renowned Colombian artist Fernando Botero.

Sotheby’s Contemporary Curated Auction is honored to partner with Truax Art Advisory and Stephen Truax to present Loved by the Sun: Queer Artists for the Ali Forney Center, a selection of works sold to benefit the Ali Forney Center, a not-for-profit that serves L.G.B.T.Q. youth in New York City. Six significant primary market artworks have been donated from the studios of leading contemporary artists, including Katherine Bradford, Doron Langberg, Chris Martin, Justin Liam O’Brien, Ilana Savdie, and Salman Toor. This presentation represents an extraordinary opportunity to buy examples of the most coveted artists’ work, and to support the vital work of the Ali Forney Center.
