As a Bangladeshi immigrant raised between Rome, Italy, and South Florida, Asif Tanvir Hoque’s work addresses both multicultural identity and individual vulnerability. Expressing emotional intelligence as well as masculine fragility, Hoque imagines his autobiographical representations with elongated curves and soft visuals, a general disruption to visions of traditional male ego.
Asif Hoque’s work has been exhibited at Half Gallery, Los Angeles; Taymour Grahne Projects, London, UK; Almine Rech Gallery, Brussels, Belgium; Yossi Milo, New York and Mindy Solomon Gallery, Miami, FL among others. Hoque studied fine art at Pratt Institute and Hunter College. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
