This film was directed by Gordon Parks, and stars Richard Roundtree, Moses Gunn and Charles Cioffi. Roundtree plays the cool private eye, John Shaft, who is hired by Bumpy, the crime boss (Moses Gunn) to get back his kidnapped daughter.
