Description

Comprising: a circular brooch designed as a trellis of circular-cut diamonds within a border of cushion-shaped rubies and seed pearls, partial Austrian maker’s and assay marks for gold; a necklace of festoon design millegrain-set with circular-cut and pear-shaped synthetic rubies, accented by circular-cut and rose diamonds, length approximately 405mm, French assay marks for gold; a ring set with a circular-cut synthetic ruby within a border of rose diamonds, size 50; a pair of synthetic ruby and paste earrings; a chain bracelet featuring cabochon synthetic rubies framed by single-cut diamonds, length approximately 180mm, one synthetic ruby deficient; and a collection of fragmentary jewels including a jewel partially set with old cushion-shaped, single-cut and rose diamonds, length approximately 120mm; two openwork silver rosaces, a thimble, a hammered gold safety pin, a chain bracelet with three deficient stones, length approximately 190mm, a brooch collet-set with blue chalcedony, Austrian import mark for silver; and one collet-set peridot; partially illustrated.

The synthetic ruby and diamond necklace belonged to Princess Nadejda of Bulgaria, Duchess of Württemberg (1899-1958), she wore it in a portrait dated to 1915.
