Patek Philippe marked the 10th anniversary of the Aquanaut by introducing the reference 5167 in 2007 as a major upgrade to the collection. The watch had a stainless steel case measuring 40.8 mm and featured a new dial with a defined pattern. The 3 o'clock hour marker was removed to create more space for the date aperture, and the rubber strap was improved. Simultaneously launched, the 5165 came in a 38.8 mm case and replaced its predecessor, the reference 5065A. It is worth mentioning that the 5165 was discontinued after being in the catalog for only five years. However, its slightly larger counterpart, the 5167, is still a part of the current collection.
