Sealed until inspection, an original wooden case of Overholt from the Broad Ford Distillery containing 12 bottles, and from the personal collection of the Mellon family, all bottles ullaged to mid shoulder with the eception of one bottle that is low shoulder, the capsule of one bottle is partially split but still secure, all front labels range from good condition to worn (please see photos for reference), original wooden case slightly damaged, the wooden top of the box was opened for inspection purposes

This whiskey is thought to have drawn from the personal collection of the financier Andrew Mellon, who owned the Old Overholt Distillery for a time in the early 20th century. After Prohibition Mellon’s nephew Richard King Mellon had the whiskey rebottled, with simple labels stating its vintage – in this case, 1911. The whiskey remained in the Mellon family until the death of Richard Mellon Scaife, who as an heir to the family fortune had inherited several cases of it, then left it to his estate to sell. The bottles have since become rare collector’s items, as valued for their place in history as they are for their taste.
