"Un pua belantan est un long tissu aux deux extrémités décorées avec généralement une partie centrale de couleur blanche. On les confond parfois à tord avec des pagnes. Au lieu de cela, ils ont un double objectif étroitement lié : le premier est la réception par les femmes des crânes des hommes à leur retour d'une chasse aux têtes ; le second est de porter un enfant, protégé dans ce tissu magique, soulignant ainsi la relation entre la chasse aux têtes et la fertilité. Les pua belantan sont fabriqués grâce à la technique très élaborée de tissage par ajout de fils successifs dite sungkit, créant ainsi de puissants motifs protecteurs."

"A pua belantan is a long cloth with decoration on both ends. They tend to have a white empty centre. They are sometimes confused with loincloths, which they emphatically are not. Instead, they serve a dual, interrelated purpose: the first is for the women to receive heads from the men upon their return from a successful headhunting raid; the second is to carry a child, protected in this magic cloth, demonstrating the relation between headhunting and fertility.
