A rare gilt-decorated trompe l'oeil bronze-imitation archaistic 'chilong' square cup, Qing dynasty, 19th century 清十九世紀 瓷胎仿銅釉螭龍紋四方倭角盃

The present cup belongs to a group of porcelain that was used to simulate works of art made from other media, inlcuding hardstones, cloisonné enamels, wood, lacquer, and in this instance bronze. See a closely related and similarly decorated hu vase from the collection of Ernest Grandidier and now in the Musée Guimet, Paris, inventory no. G3274.

此仿古倭角盃施仿古銅釉。清代御窯廠為滿足皇帝對新奇設計的追求，製作出各式仿效不同材質的瓷器，如仿木、仿漆、仿石、仿銅等器物，而本拍品正屬仿銅類別。見法國吉美博物館藏類似一例仿古銅釉壺，為 Ernest Grandidier 舊藏，藏品編號G3274。
