WESTERN ZHOU DYNASTY

西周 侁簋


well cast with the compressed body resting on a tall splayed foot, decorated below the gently everted rim with a band of two pairs of stylized confronting birds against a leiwen ground, centered by beast masks in high relief and interrupted by a pair of loop handles issuing from horned animal heads and set with pendent tabs, the foot similarly decorated with a band of confronting birds, the interior with a six-character inscription reading zuo fu yi bao gui shen, the surface with an attractive malachite encrustation
