‘Lord Douglas died on Monday last, at his town residence in St. George’s-place, after a short illness. The deceased, Charles Douglas, Baron Douglas, of Douglas Castle, county Lanark, in the peerage of Great Britain, was second son of Archibald, first Lord Douglas, by Lady Lucy Graham, daughter of William, second Duke of Montrose. He was born Oct. 26, 1775, and was consequently in his 73d year, and was unmarried, as was his brother Archibald, on whose death in January, 1844, he succeeded to the family honours and estates.’ (Morning Advertiser, London, Thursday, 14 September 1848, p. 2b)
