Freddie's 39th birthday party has since become the stuff of legend: his Black and White Drag Ball took place on 5 September 1985 at Henderson's Club in Munich. 

Richard Young was drafted in to photograph the party, where Freddie wore the custom military-style jacket with silver tassels (lot 240, On Stage). He is pictured with Steve Strange and others. The video footage from the party was used in the music video for 'Living on My Own'. The considerable bar bill for the evening forms part of lot 605, At Home.
