A MAP OF THE FIRST LUNAR LANDING SITE, SIGNED BY APOLLO 11 LUNAR MODULE PILOT BUZZ ALDRIN
This beautiful map shows where Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong landed on the Moon during Apollo 11. Buzz Aldrin piloted the Lunar Module "Eagle" to the lunar surface, touching down on July 20, 1969, inside the Sea of Tranquility. Chosen for its smooth terrain, proximity to the lunar equator, and craters, this landing site allowed the astronauts to gather moonrock samples which provided evidence of a magma ocean on the Moon.
