Description
Freddie Mercury’s arrow vests and leggings, made for the ‘Hot Space’ tour, 1982 with a pair of ballet shoes
Four ribbed cotton vests comprising: three white ones hand stencilled front and back with arrow designs in shades of red, yellow, orange and black, one of these with an orange and red flame design; one turquoise vest with arrow designs in black, purple and red, all with labels removed; a pair of white elastane leggings with stirrup feet, hand-drawn overall in coloured felt pen with arrows in turquoise, yellow and pink outlined in black, with larger black arrows to front, back and sides, waistband with belt loops, unlabelled, apparently not stage worn; and a pair of pink leather ballet shoes, suede soles, insoles stamped ‘Pineapple Dance’, size 9 ½ [unworn]
(qty 7)
These arrow vests are typical of the type of arrow-themed costume Freddie had made for the ‘Hot Space’ tour, 1982; to date these vests have not been photo-matched to any of the stage-worn vests, though it is possible some may have been worn on stage.
For similar arrow vests, see lots 216, 2152-2154; for arrow jackets see lots 56 and 57.
