Alida Sun

The artist.

Alida Sun is an artist and intersectional futurist based in Berlin. She has created a computational homage to the pioneering conceptual art of Teresa Burga and the psychological explorations of Louise Bourgeois. Insomnia Drawing Simulation recalls sleepless nights of coding and the strangely generative in-between of dreaming and waking.

Undulating wave forms generated by fluid dynamics algorithms reference Burga's systems-based sketching late nights from the 1970s, as well as Bourgeois' gestural excavations of unconscious memories in the wee small hours of the mid-1990s.

This drawing simulation emerges from the artist's daily practice of making art with code in ongoing open-ended process, defying any fixed definition.
