1981 Los Angeles Dodgers World Series Championship Ring

After twice going down in defeat to the Yankees, the Dodgers faced New York again in the 1981 World Series. Rookie phenom Fernando Valenzuela proved to be just the thing the veteran core of Steve Garvey, Ron Cey, Bill Russell, Reggie Smith and Davey Lopes needed to finally earn the World Championship. The Dodgers didn’t make it easy as they lost the first two games of the 1981 World Series at Yankee Stadium, before returning home to Los Angeles, where they would take all three games by one-run margins and returned to the Bronx with the series lead. After falling behind 1-0 in the third inning, the Dodgers exploded with a run in the fourth, three in the fifth and four in the sixth inning cruising to victory and closing out the series in six games.

Presented here is a 1981 Los Angeles Dodgers World Series championship ring. This 10K gold ring was made by Balfour and presented to a staffer with the last name of Werhas. The top edges of this ring have “LOS ANGELES” on the top, “DODGERS” on the bottom, “WORLD” on the left and “CHAMPIONS” on the right, all in raised relief. A blue stone with a large diamond placed in a diamond shape, is in the center. The left shank has “19” and “81” in raised relief on each top corner, with a raised image of the Commissioner’s World Series trophy below that has engraved “LOS ANGELES DODGERS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY OCTOBER 28, 1981”. The opposite shank has “WERHAS”, the Dodgers’ logo and “LA” all in raised relief. The inside band has “BALFOUR 10K” engraved the ring is a size 9 ½ and weighs approximately 25.56 grams.
