This is a second version of the composition by Curradi. The prime version was executed as part of a series of seven, all in lunette format, depicting scenes from the life of the Magdalene, now in the Depositi delle Gallerie Fiorentine, Florence.¹ The present painting differs in format from the prime version and also in some details, such as the replacement of a sheet of paper with the crucifix. The lunette is signed and dated 1632, providing a terminus post quem for this painting.
