A spinach-green jade 'landscape' circular table screen, Qing dynasty, Qianlong period | 清乾隆 碧玉山水紋圓插屏

Notable for its large size, this circular table screen is exquisitely carved, featuring an intricately executed landscape with a river, rocks, and trees, and buildings hidden amongst mountain peaks and clouds in the distance. Circular table screens like this would have been among the most significant objects on a scholar's table. Crafted from carefully chosen stones, the screen's material enhances the varying depths of the carved pictorial scene, showcasing the masterful artistry and attention to detail that went into its creation.

Jade table screens featuring pure landscape designs without any figures are rare.
