The story of Patek Philippe’s split seconds chronograph started early back in 1938, when the legendary manufacturer was the first to the complication into a wristwatch. The reference 1436 has always been a dream for collectors with approximately 140 pieces thought to be made during the 33-year production period according to scholars. Since then Patek has not made another traditional 3-pusher split seconds chronograph until the release of reference 5370 in 2015.

One of the finest split seconds chronograph created by Patek Philippe, the appeal of the present 5370 is reminiscent to the reference 1436 with the elegant Breguet numerals and the cabochon lugs. Take a closer look at the dial, the stunning rich Grand Feu enamel dial elevates the watch to another level as Patek only reserved enamel dials for the most exclusive pieces leaving their workshop. The dial alone requires three hours just to polish and it is simply fascinating given the difficulty to create a flawless dial.

Turn the watch over and it is another scenery of perfect execution and genius. The in-house calibre CHR 29-535 PS was superbly finished with all its components chamfered, polished and surfaces straight-grained. Further encased in noble platinum, Patek Philippe once again demonstrated their modern technical mastery while paying homage to the historical reference. Offered in double factory seal, the rarity and exclusivity of this timepiece cannot be overstated and surely be a wonder on the wrist.
