Acquired in France by the grandfather of the present owner in the early 20th century, and thence by family descent.

These dou are mentioned in an insurance valuation done by Michel Beurdeley at the house of the father of the present owner on 26th November 1991. The two 'coupe couvertes sur piedouche en bronze' were then dated to the Han dynasty and valued at 25,000 French francs.
