Autograph letter signed, to Cardinal Wolsey ("your Grace")

writing on the King's instruction, ordering that "yonge Lyle" be imprisoned in the Tower, forwarding a letter from the King's illegitimate son the Duke of Richmond, and reporting on a meeting with Anne Boleyn, 2 pages, folio, autograph address panel ("To my lords grace"), Windsor, 15 March 1528, docketed, locking slits, wear at outer edge

"...yesternyght after the kynge had soopped I went to mastres Anne & delyv[ere]d your token for the which she herttely thanketh your grace..."

Thomas Heneage was a gentleman of the King's Privy Chamber, and was one of the few courtiers present at the marriage of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. He went on to head the Privy Chamber at the reception of Anne of Cleves, and at Henry's marriage to Katherine Parr. He had previously been gentleman usher to Cardinal Wolsey at Hampton Court.
