Signed Tango no kami Naomichi
Edo period, 17th century
Sugata [configuration]: Honzukuri, iori-mune, even tori-zori, chu-kissaki
Kitae [forging pattern]: The jigane in tight ko-itame hada with ji-nie
Hamon [tempering pattern]: Rounded gunome midare choji in ko-nie, with togariba and profuse ashi, yakidashi
Boshi [tip]: The ko-maru boshi with suguha and kaeri
Nakago [tang]: Ubu, with a slight adjustment to the kiri-jiri, one mekugi-ana, sloping higaki yasurime file marks, the katana-mei signed Tango no kami Naomichi
Habaki [collar]: Gold
With shirasaya [plain wood scabbard]
Koshirae [mount]: The handachi koshirae of dense sprinkled aogai on a black lacquer ground, the iron fittings with russet migakiji and gilt, also to the kabuto-gane, the menuki in the form of gilt nail-puller and circle crests (maru ni kuginuki mon), the tsuka with brown ito, the round gilded iron pierced nanban tsuba with dragons
