Launched in 1997, the Aquanaut was originally designed to appeal to a younger, more active generation. As the first Patek Philippe timepiece to feature a rubber strap—something collectors initially saw as a cheap design option—the Aquanaut faced some trepidation. However, it has since overcome this and become one of the brand’s most popular models. While maintaining its distinctive case design over the years, subsequent models have seen advancements in both size and functionality.
In 2011, Patek Philippe launched the Travel Time Aquanaut reference 5164, the first complicated Aquanaut model. The present example exudes a sporty appeal and retains the distinctive traits expected in an Aquanaut: an eye-catching cushion-shaped case and a textured dial. In addition to its characteristic dial configuration and rubber strap, the watch features dual-time and day/night indications. The mechanism was upgraded with two pushers on the left band, allowing for easy and quick adjustments to the second time zone. In 2016, they annouced the rose gold variant, such as the present example, which we are pleased to offer with its full suite of accessories.
