Introduced as a concept watch at SIHH 2018 and as a full production watch in 2019, The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin is said to be the thinnest automatic perpetual calendar watch ever made. The watch measures 41mm wide and 6.3mm in height, which is 3.2mm slimmer than the ordinary Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar. The automatic caliber 5133 is based on the caliber 2120 found in the Royal Oak “Jumbo”. Consequently, it is one of the few ultra-thin movements with a full rotor, instead of a micro-rotor. This new movement is not just thinner, but also simpler, with only 256 components compared to 374 in the standard Royal Oak perpetual calendar caliber 2120.
The model's diameter has been slightly increased to 41mm from the traditional 39mm to accommodate the movement. The case is predominantly made of an ultra-lightweight titanium alloy, including the main case and bracelet, with platinum center links, a hexagonal bezel, and a folding clasp. The dial features a lightly brushed blue color, with sunken sub-dials that are highly legible and clear to read, complemented by luminous hands and hour markers.
