Patek Philippe

During the 2011 Basel fair, Patek Philippe revamped its highly collectible perpetual chronograph collection with the introduction of the new reference 5270. The launch of this model marked a significant milestone in the history of Patek Philippe, becoming the first perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch to be equipped with a completely in-house designed and manufactured movement and thus, the final instance in which the company used and modified external manufacturers.

The model is distinguished from its predecessor, the reference 5970, by its larger case of 41 mm. The dial configuration was also modified by moving the leap year indicator from the sub dial at 3 o’clock to a more legible location, an aperture between the 4 and 5 o’clock markers, and similarly the addition of a day/night indicator between the 7 and 8 o’clock markers for symmetry. Spanning all eras, the Patek Philippe perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatches have become highly coveted by collectors worldwide, and this model of reference 5270 is already regarded as a contemporary classic. Encased in white gold, this present example exudes both class and readability on the wrist.
