Description
A Roman Marble Herm of Hermes or Dionysos
circa 2nd Century A.D.
with long beard and moustache of voluted locks, his hair arranged in two rows of corkscrew curls above the forehead and surmounted by a diadem, a strand of hair falling over the diadem on each side, two long wavy strands falling onto the shoulders; left front edge of herm shoulders restored.
Height 25.8 cm.
European private collection, 19th Century or earlier (based on restoration techniques and red marble base)
