Collection of remarkable Joachim memorabilia, including
5 PHOTOGRAPHIC PORTRAITS BELONGING TO JOACHIM, including of the violinist Teresina Tua (1866-1956), 16.5 x 10.9cm, inscribed and signed on the reverse ("A l'incomparable Maître Souvenir affectueux de sa plus grande admiratrice Teresa Tua Berlin 2 Octobre 1882"), Joachim's pupil, the American violinist Leonora Jackson (1879-1869), 16.6 x 10.8cm, signed and inscribed on the reverse ("To my revered master Dr Joachim. Gratefully and affectionately London 1899"), Julius Otto Grimm and Ferdinand Hiller; A WRITING CASE, APPARENTLY BELONGING TO JOACHIM, c.25.5 x 38.5 x 1.2cm, containing used pink blotting paper and compartments for letters, roan, metal clasp; A COLLECTION OF C.95 DOMESTIC INVOICES AND RECEIPTS FROM 1867-1868 FOR JOACHIM AND HIS WIFE, various sizes, printed stationery with manuscript entries, one group of invoices loose in contemporary blue wrappers, the rest individually contained in modern plastic sleeves; a manuscript catalogue of an unidentified library (Joachim's?), c.114 pages, plus blanks, 4to, nineteenth-century half cloth, manuscript paper label to spine ("Katalog 1898"), and one unused volume of ruled music paper, c.41 leaves, 9-stave paper, book-seller's label to upper inside cover ("Heyls Künstler Magazin"), nineteenth-century quarter cloth

All the items in this unusual collection of Joachim-related objects were passed down to the former owner by descent, from whom they were acquired by the present owner in 2017. Of note in particular are the 90-odd invoices for Joachim and his wife, all from 1867-1868, including printed music purchases, which provide an extraordinarily detailed snapshot of two years of the great violinist's domestic life.
