graphite and white gouache additions on a readymade colour reproduction of Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa on glossy smooth wove paper, accompanied by the original japon nacré folder
image: 270 by 180 mm. 10½ by 7 in.
sheet: 300 by 230 mm. 11⅞ by 9 in.
Executed in Neuilly-sur-Seine, September 1964; this example is one of three proofs reserved for the Artist, Pierre de Massot and Arturo Schwarz respectively, aside from the numbered edition of 35.
The Association Marcel Duchamp has confirmed the authenticity of this work.
A gift from the artist to Pierre de Massot, Paris
