Two woodblock print triptychs 

Edo - Meiji period, 19th century 


each a woodblock print, triptych, framed and glazed, and comprising: 

- A shamisen player and dancer performing to Genji, the right sheet signed Kunichika ga (Pictured by Kunichika) within toshidama cartouche, censor's seal aratame (certified), published by Fujiokaya Keijiro (Shorindo), 11th month 1870, depicting a scene of figures at leisure on a terrace, seated before trays of food, watching a dancer and shamisen player, fireworks visible in the background over the city

- Dawn Bell in the Yoshiwara (Yoshiwara no aki no kane), from the series Eight Views of Edo (Edo hakkei no uchi), each sheet signed Kunichika hitsu (Brush of Kunichika), censor's seal aratame (certified), published by Kiya Sojiro (Kobokudo), 7th month 1867, depicting a nocturnal scene with a figure emerging from a palanquin surrounded by a woman, child and attendants
