Description
CONVERSE, CONVERSE CHUCK TAYLOR ALL-STAR 70 HI, SIZE 10
Rubber, Cotton, Synthetic
2018
In July 2021, Virgil Abloh’s digital archive Canary Yellow announced that ten pairs of Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star 70 Hi’s, each signed and numbered by the designer, would be raffled with 100% of the contributions going to the ‘I Support Black Women’ initiative. Canary Yellow, calling these pairs an ‘Artist Edition’, offered 10 pairs of the classic silhouette which was redesigned by Virgil Abloh in 2018.
The classic cut of the Converse remains, but Abloh’s second take on the silhouette took an entirely different approach to this design. Featuring the signature Off-White industrial stripes across the midsole, Off-White and Converse branding on the medial side of each shoe, and shocking dashes of orange on the Converse logo and outsole, this pair is easily identifiable and is one of the most famous collaborations on the silhouette.
For the initiative, the left shoe is signed VIRGIL, and numbered 3/10, whereas the right shoe is signed ISBW - acronym for I Support Black Women. The box also comes signed and numbered by Virgil Abloh. The lot is accompanied by a letter from James Spence Authentication in regards to the signatures.
