with a Christie's label to the underside numbered: 218, and accompanied by a glazed frame containing a letter from the artist and a page from the Royal Glasgow Institute of Arts exhibition 1932 listing the present model

According to the letter from the artist accompanying the present bronze, The Autumn Dance was inspired by an Austrian dancer called Astrahan[?] who travelled to London and later found success in America: "She had a most charming personality and this factor probably helped greatly with the work."
