The Aso O. Tavitian sale series concludes with the online auction, a selection of furniture and objects across multiple categories from both houses that reflects the breadth and diversity of his vision. Tavitian was an inveterate collector, in possession of what Balzac famously described as the stamina of a stag and the luxury of spare time to look, and he was inexhaustible in his pursuit of the next prize, large or small, to embellish his surroundings. Even after the furnishing of both the town and country residences was complete and all the artworks hung and placed, Tavitian couldn’t resist temptation and continued to visit his favourite dealers at major art fairs like TEFAF Maastricht, Grosvenor House and Masterpiece in London, and the Park Avenue Armory in New York, always finding space for a new acquisition – a trait he shared with all of history’s art lovers.
