20 parts in 19, 8vo (225 x 140 mm). 40 etched plates by "Phiz" (Hablot K. Browne), plates 1-4 have the publisher's imprint; mixed issue, scattered spotting, primarily to plates, a few closed marginal tears, scattered staining. Original green wrappers; several spines neatly and expertly restored, more extensive restoration to wrappers of parts 8 and part 19/20, closed tears and chips, a few instances of staining. Housed in custom clamshell case.
First edition, in the original monthly parts.

Nicholas Nickleby, Dickens' third novel, has remained a favorite among his works. It was, in fact, the popularity of this work that made it possible for the author to give up parliamentary reporting, and make novel-writing his full-time profession.
