the body of scalloped sexfoil form with chased lobed panels, on a similarly decorated trumpet foot, the interior chased with eight flower-heads within segments, prick-engraved D.T over I.C. over 1652, the underside engraved Cromwell 1652

This maker’s mark has long been attributed to Edward Treene (free 1626, died circa 1672), an attribution confirmed by David M. Mitchell, Silversmiths in Elizabethan and Stuart London, Woodbridge, 2017, pp. 288-290.
A similar example of 1653, by the same maker, is in the Metropolitan Museum, New York, the gift of Irwin Untermeyer, 1968. Ac. No. 68.141.206.
