Cartier has always been lauded for its new and iconic designs. Among those innovations, the story of the Baignoire (french for bathtub) began in the 1950s when the brand decided to give a watchthes this unusual oval shape. In the 1960s, in the London workshops, the shape of the watch was stratched even further to create the Tank Alongée.
This model has known very little change since its introduction. It is, nevertheless, a model filled with history. One of the story surounding the creation of the Crash is about a customer bringing a damaged Baignoire to the boutique, which inspired the design of the watch.
Similar to the Cartier Crash, the Baignoire Allongée has been released as a limited edition in 1991. Only 400 pieces were made for this occasion.
It is a rare occasion to acquire such a highly coveted timepiece from such a limited production.
