SYLVIA PLATH'S MEMENTOES OF MOTHERHOOD.

"...O love, how did you get here?

O embryo

Remembering, even in sleep,

Your crossed position.

The blood blooms clean

In you, ruby.

The pain

You wake to is not yours..." (from 'Nick and the Candlestick')
