Description

The Beatles

Gold record presented by the RIAA for Help!, ca. 2 September 1965

Gold record record and plaque (overall 400 x 295 mm) with white linen mat. Framed and glazed; not examined out of frame.

The gold record from the height of Beatlemania. Their fifth studio album, Help! was another immediate widespread commercial success for The Beatles. Though they were already immensely popular, it was this album that first saw critical appreciation from the mainstream—where the record was treated as a serious work of musical talent and exploration, beyond what many had previously felt was merely the "phenomenon" of Beatlemania. Help! was nominated for Album of the Year at the 1966 Grammys (along with several nominations for "Yesterday"), making it the first rock record ever to be nominated for the category.
