Francois Paul Journe has always been captivated by conquering challenging conundrums within watchmaking, with one of his most famous being the harnessing of the resonance phenomena to aid accuracy. One of his lesser known achievements was the creation of the world’s first automatic movement to break the 120-hour power reserve mark with the caliber 1300, found within the Octa Réserve de Marche, which was also his first ever automatic wristwatch.
The present watch features a coveted rhodium-plated brass movement which ceased production in 2004 when Journe changed his movements to be made of solid rose gold. Journe watches that contain brass movements are very uncommon across all models, making these a rarity and sought after by aficionados who appreciate the history of Journe’s first watches. Furthermore, this Octa measures 38 mm in diameter, a size that was discontinued by Journe who currently only manufactures 40 and 42 mm watches.
All in all, the present watch is the culmination of the rarest and best of F.P. Journe: 38 mm, brass movement, historical. This is a unique opportunity to obtain a true classic of one of the most important independent watchmakers.
