Ars Antiqua AG, Lucerne, Auktion II. Antike Kunstwerke, May 14th, 1960, no. 91, illus.

Bank Leu, Zurich, acquired at the above auction, probably through Leo Mildenberg (1913-2001)

Leo Biaggi de Blasys (1906-1979), Lugano, probably acquired from the above

by descent to the present owner

For a related Greek bronze figure of an archer in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, inv. no. 26.31.493, see G. M. A. Richter, Handbook of the Greek Collection, 1953, p. 196, fig. 36b (https://libmma.contentdm.oclc.org/digital/collection/p15324coll10/id/192253). On the present figure, the hole drilled horizontally through the left arm does not support identification as an archer. A different kind of implement or attribute must have been attached.

This lot appears as no. 35 in a partial inventory of the Leo Biaggi de Blasys Collection dated January 25th, 1982, Lausanne, Switzerland.
