When the Sea-Dwellers were introduced to the market in the late 1960s, the Submariners were already able to reach an impressive depth of 200 meters/660 feet. However, the Sea-Dwellers were made specifically for professional divers like the True-Beat for doctors and Milgauss for scientists. The present watch preserved in good overall condition is a reference 16600 made available from 1989 to 2009. Being the longest lasting Sea-Dweller reference, it has experienced the evolution of the luminous material made from tritium to Luminova to finally, the Super Luminova. As the dial of the present watch from circa 2008 is signed 'Swiss Made', it features Super Luminova numerals.
Sotheby's is honored to offer the collection of a former race car driver (in total 28 watches) with proceeds benefiting an initiative to support children of refugees in Germany.
